IPP Executive Chairman Reginald Mengi yesterday handed over a check worth 25m/- to the chairman of the burial committee, Jerome Bwanausi, to assist bomb blast victims to acquire their basic needs such as food and shelter.
In his condolence message to the victims, Mengi said that all what had happened were God`s wishes and human beings could not oppose Him.
He pleaded for more Tanzanians to heartily volunteer to help the victims, especially those who had lost relatives so that they could bury them.
``It is my hope that Tanzanians will volunteer to help the victims because they still need our assistance because, apart from burial requirements, the victims need some relief assistance,`` he said.
For his part, Bwanausi, who is also Temeke municipal mayor, thanked Mengi for the assistance, adding that it would help to pay the costs of burial and maintenance costs of damaged property including schools, churches, mosques and homes.
Bwanausi called on other people to volunteer to help the victims in different ways because some of them might even need clothes.
He also requested residents of Temeke municipality to report to the authorities information regarding their missing relatives, saying by so doing it would help to know the actual number of people who had been lost.
Bwanausi said since the blasts incident happened they had been receiving assistance from different people.
He said so far they had received a total of 55m/-, including cash and other items.
He said they had also received 50 tents and blankets donated by the Nairobi Red Cross Society and from the National Service.
