Dar marathon attracts 26

Newly introduced Dar es Salaam Marathon to be staged next month has so far attracted 26 athletes, according to the latest registration statistics released by the organisers.

The marathon`s competition secretary, John Manyama, said most of the athletes are competent and three of them are women.

The marathon is open to whoever is interested and it will be involving routes within the Dar es Salaam city premises.

Apart from the 42-kilometre event, there will also be half marathon (21 kilometres) and a five kilometre fun race.

The five kilometre fun race will also accommodate teenagers from ten years.

Those registered for the 21 kilometre race include Naftal Dakho, Mary Naali, Jackline Sakilu, Isay Laizer, Nakayai Mollel, Johnston Kibet, David Kliplagat, Martin Sulle, Andrea Silvin, Getul Bayo, Marko Joseph, Paul Goti and Paschal Mombo.

Others are Dickson Marwa, Victor Gatuda, Oswald Revellin, Patrick Nyangelo, Sarah Maja, Simon Patrick, Samson Ramadhan, Faustin Musa, Jumanne Tulway, Isaya Deengw and Christopher Isengwe.

He said registration for fun run will be open on the day of the competition.
